With the abovementioned changes in the lists of Associate and Guest Editors, our editorial team consists of 1 Editor (Ed), 28 AEs, and 8 GEs, who represent 14 countries with nuclear-power reactors (Canada (1 Ed, 2 AEs); China (4 AEs); Czech Republic (1 AE and 2 GEs); France (1 AE and 1 GE); Germany (2 AEs and 1 GE); Hungary (1 AE); Japan (3 AEs and 1 GE); South Korea (1 AE); Pakistan (1 AE); Spain (1 GE); Switzerland (1 AE); Ukraine (1 Ed); United Kingdom (1 AE); and USA (6 AEs)); and 4 countries without nuclear-power reactors (Israel (1 AE); Italy (2 AEs), Serbia (1 AE), and Turkey (1 GE)).

Year 2020 was quite challenging to everybody and to our Journal as well, due to the spread of coronavirus around the world, quarantine measures, working from home, etc. Also, unfortunately, many nuclear-engineering/radiation-science conferences were cancelled or moved to next year. Therefore, we would like to invite authors from these conferences to submit their augmented and revised papers to our Journal with the objective to quickly publish their valuable research/technical results!

During our sixth year, we have published four issues electronically and as hard copies (as planned, always on time or ahead of a schedule) with about 100 papers including four Special Sections with selected augmented and revised papers from:

(1) Issue 1, January 2020:

Special Section: Canadian Nuclear Society Eighth International Conference on Simulation Methods in Nuclear Science and Engineering prepared by Dr. A. Buijs and Dr. E. Nichita.

(2) Issue 2, April 2020:

Special Section: 26th International Conference On Nuclear Engineering (ICONE-26) prepared by Dr. G. Wang, Dr. Sh. Revankar, Dr. L. Cizelj, Dr. R. Stakenborghs, and Dr. J. Riznic.

(3) Issue 3, July 2020:

Special Section: 9th International Symposium on SuperCritical Water-cooled Reactors (ISSCWR-9) prepared by Dr. L. Leung, Dr. D. Guzonas, and Dr. Th. Schulenberg.

(4) Issue 4, October 2020:

Special Section: ICONE-27 prepared by Dr. J. Riznic, Dr. T. Okawa, Dr. A. Arastu, Dr. L. Cizelj, Dr. Sh. Revankar, and Dr. R. Schultz.

We would like to share some statistics on papers accepted for publication in our Journal by country, as such, the largest contributors within 2015-2020 were: (1) Canada—120 papers; (2) China—85; (3) USA—66; (4) Czech Republic—52; (5) Japan—45; (6) India—42; (7) Germany—32; and (8) UK—20. Also, we have noticed authors from many countries without nuclear-power reactors including developing ones (Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iraq, Lebanon, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc.) have submitted their papers into our Journal. In total, we have accepted papers from 46 countries.

Our plans for next year are:

  1. Publish four issues with a larger number of papers and to make the “waiting time” for publishing as short as possible;

  2. Publish several Special Issues (SIs) and/or Special Sections with selected augmented and revised papers from:

  1. Rež Research Center;

  2. EU ESFR-SMART project; and

  3. International Youth Nuclear Congress 2020 (IYNC2020).

The Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Science is currently included in the Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index, and Scopus.

And finally, we hope that you will join us in our Journal as authors of submitted manuscripts and as reviewers. This is indeed a unique international journal, which combines research, industrial operating experience, new designs/systems, safety analysis, applications of nuclear energy and many other related topics that change the world and our lives for the better! We also hope you will enjoy reading papers that follow.
